Exterior Paint Correction & Maintenance Over the years, usually even months, vehicles accumulate a generous amount of defects in the paint. New or old, vehicles will get swirl marks from improper washing, marring from improper detailing, embedded dust, tar, etc. from simple daily driving, along with many other irregularities that keep vehicles from looking their best. Through proper correction and maintenance, these same vehicles can usually regain that like-new look, or close to it, and once again have clear and shiny paint. Exterior services range from paint maintenance, such as the Protection Detail, to thorough paint correction and protection, through the Light Polish Detail or Paint Rejuvenation services.









We at LUSTR Auto Detail focus individually on each vehicle and develop a process that's specifically tailored only for that vehicle. Before any detailing work is scheduled, we perform a thorough Pre-Detail Assessment in person. During the assessment we evaluate the paintwork, measure the clearcoat thickness and thoroughly discuss the owner's concerns and expectations. We then perform a few polishing test sections on the paint to show right then and there what results can be expected from our services. We do all work per appointment only and usually devote a full day to each vehicle. Thus we book all appointments based on the trust we build with clients from our initial meeting. Our clients expect us to show up on time, whether at the shop or at the client's home, and produce amazing results on the vehicles. Similarly, we expect our clients to follow through on all appointments, since we lose an entire work day with any sudden cancellations. Obviously there are some circumstances beyond our control and we completely understand that. At the same time, we do expect and appreciate a notice 48 hours or more in advance for any cancellations so we can try to not lose that entire day and get someone else in for service. Thankfully we have great clients and this is very rarely, if ever, an issue! Thanks to our knowledge, experience and a meticulous mindset, we always employ the best and safest methods to perform the work and we use some of the best products on the market. We will never cause harm to the vehicle's finish nor do anything detrimental to its value overall. Our motto here is "Quality over quantity" and everything we learn, do or use stems from that motto. With that in mind, we here work towards only one goal during each detail job: exceeding the client's expectations while providing the best possible service for that specific vehicle. The LUSTR Treatment

Recommended for exotic/show cars and "garage queens". - Time required: 3 or more days

The LUSTR Treatment is our top of the line Concours level detail. It is a thorough overhaul and rejuvenation of a vehicle inside and out. The vehicle is kept over a period of three or more days, during which the paint is corrected with multiple polishing steps, all painted surfaces on the vehicle, including door jambs and interior, receive multiple coats of a long lasting sealant and quality carnauba wax, and the interior gets a complete detail and reconditioning. We recommend this for vehicles that are rarely used, such as show cars or exotic vehicles.

Exterior:

Paint is pre-rinsed and delicately hand washed with a pH neutral soap
Paint is dried with soft microfiber drying towels
Detailing clay is used to remove any embedded contamination
Paint correction process of multiple polishing steps is utilized to remove swirl marks, light scratches and as many severe defects as safely possible to restore paint clarity, gloss and shine that rivals a brand new paint job
All exterior glass is cleaned and protected with a sealant where applicable
Headlights and tail lights are thoroughly restored through cleaning and polishing processes
All exterior trim surfaces are cleaned and dressed
Exhaust tips and other metal surfaces are cleaned and polished
Creme paint glaze is applied with machine to enhance depth and gloss of the paint
Multiple coats of long lasting polymer sealant and carnauba wax are applied to all exterior painted surfaces

Interior:

Interior and trunk are thoroughly vacuumed
Floor mats are cleaned and protected with a fabric guard
Air vents, cup holders, and other similar areas are dusted, cleaned and dressed
All interior trim is dressed and UV protected
Leather is cleaned and conditioned through an intense process using Leatherique products
Interior glass is cleaned and wiped down
Door jambs are cleaned, polished and waxed

Engine:

Inside of the hood is cleaned with a wash solution and dried with microfiber towels
All reachable engine components are sprayed lightly with a cleaner then thoroughly cleaned by hand
These components are then either polished or treated with a rubber/vinyl protectant

Wheels:

Wheel faces and barrels are cleaned with appropriate brushes and sealed
Wheels are dried with proper microfiber towels
Detailing clay is used to remove any embedded contamination on the wheels inside and out
Wheels are polished by hand then sealed
Wheel wells and tires are cleaned and dressed

Multi-Stage Paint Correction Detail

Recommended as initial service for vehicles with paint in fairly poor condition, having moderate defects like fading, oxidation, large amounts of swirl marks, etc. - Time required: 10 or more hours

The Multi-Stage Paint Correction Detail is our most valuable and beneficial detailing service for most vehicles that are driven frequently. Through two or more steps of machine polishing, the paint on the vehicle is brought back to like-new and many times better than new condition. This is achieved by removing unsightly swirl marks, greatly improving deep scratches or defects and bringing out a clarity that brings the shine, gloss and reflections of the paint to a whole new level. After the paint correction, the vehicle is protected with an application of a quality polymer sealant or carnauba wax applied to all exterior surfaces.

Hybrid Paint Correction Detail

The Hybrid Paint Correction Detail is inteded for clients seeking more correction on the upper surfaces without moving up two or more polishing steps on the entire vehicle. By combining the Multi-Stage and Single-Stage Paint Correction Detail, we're able to create a dramatic difference in paint on the upper, more visible surfaces, while still giving the lower surfaces a proper correction and great improvement in gloss and clarity.

Single-Stage Paint Correction Detail

Recommended 1-2 times yearly for all vehicles as maintenance polishing to remove minor defects in paint, such as light swirl marks from washing and drying. - Time required: 7 or more hours

The Single-Stage Paint Correction Detail is a considerable step up from our Light Machine Polish Detail. It adds the significant paint correction stage to the process, which eliminates light defects in the paint and increases the gloss and clarity of the finish. Highly recommended as maintenance service 1-2 times yearly after an initial paint correction in order to maintain the quality of the paint and keep up the value of the vehicle.

Light Machine Polish Detail

Recommended 2-3 times yearly for vehicles driven often or vehicles in poor condition to restore shine and color to the paint while removing very light swirl marks. - Time required: 4 or more hours

The Light Machine Polish Detail is a service that takes our Protection Detail to the next level. In addition to the paint being cleansed of previous buildup and contamination, the Light Machine Polish Detail includes a light polishing step using an all-in-one polish to restore color to dull paint and eliminate very light swirl marks and marring. This makes a dramatic difference on vehicles in poor condition and improves those in decent condition. We highly recommend this for daily driven vehicles to improve the looks and value with healthy, shiny and protected paint. It's also a great service for owners planning to sell a vehicle soon, as it undoubtedly adds value and makes the vehicle look extremely well maintained.

Recommended every 4-8 weeks for any vehicle driven daily or often. - Time required: 2 or more hours

The Protection Detail is the single most important step in keeping the paint healthy and the vehicle looking its best after it has gone through our polishing and correction process. Done regularly, the Protection Detail will keep the paint looking clean, glossy and shiny. It will also be well protected from the elements such as sun, rain, bird droppings, accidental spills and water marks.

Maintenance Detail

Recommended every 2-4 weeks for any vehicle driven daily or often. - Time required: 1.5 or more hours

The Maintenance Detail is the core of paint upkeep. It's the beginning of the more complex detailing services and a vital part in properly cleaning off paint to prevent future contamination. When done on a regular basis, a proper maintenance detail will thoroughly remove dirt and avoid more involved detailing services in the vehicle's near future.
